anon : AT&T sales came to my door on 6/11. I signed a contract that same day for U-Verse service (total package). Install scheduled and performed yesterday (6/29). All phone, internet and TV connections were severed! He couldn't get a connection. Engineer came out 6/30 and was here for 4 hours when he told us "they shouldn't have sold you the service to begin with. You're too far away to receive a good signal."

Calls to SE Michigan produced nothing; "Well, you can't get service, the engineer is the final say, so we can put you on a list for hookup when it's available in your area." They haven't a clue as to when that's going to be.

Called corporate in TX and told them the issue. They contacted SE Michigan (Roseville) and told them to do what has to be done to get us connected. SE Tech called me back and said that corporate cannot dictate to them what to do becuase they "don't know our configuration..."
We are going to persue a breach suit against AT&T stiulating they provide us with the basis internet, TV and telephone service that they disconnected and that they provide that service to us, free of charge, until U-Verse is connected.

Bottom Line: BEFORE you sign the agreement, ensure they live up to their committment to come out and test the lines BEFORE the install date. Our sales rep told us that this had already been done and produced a paper signifying that fact..... Not fact, FICTION!

I have 3 neighbors who are further away than I and am going to warn them about this issue and suggest they cancel their contacts before they fall into the same trap as I.

Corporate's on the phone....gotta go!
