As of today I can now ping Giganews and connect normally with my newsreader. I did notice that now, like B_W's experience, using their "Accelerator" software does NOT produce a connection, giving the log "Exception creating server connection: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond."

I think the Accelerator issue has to be on Giganew's end now, as pings and regular connections now work fine. BTW using Stunnel for SSL, as opposed to the Accelerator, also produces a connection now, unlike before.
