| ATM PPPoE connection problems.
I had a 4100b modem and last week my connection went down.
Was getting an DSL connection, but no no internet connection.
Going to the Check Connection
I had failure of Perform ATM OAM segment ping Perform ATM OAM end to end ping
And
Check PPPoE connection to Ethernet Check PPP connection to PPPoE Check PPPoE server connectivity Check PPPoE server session
I did some googling and I found that the ATM test will often show failed when connected to an RTU which I am. But when working the ATM test pass.
So after going through tier 1 2 times, and someone that I had not idea what he did, but said that I was wrongly transfered and waiting an hour I finally go through to tier 2.
But they kept wanting to to change the computer configuration and other changes. But I never had a problem connecting to the modem.
But in the middle of working with tier 2 the modem died.
Went and got a replacement, but very similar Motorola 2210 which I took to another location and setup and could connect.
But when I put it on my line it has the same error message of ATM and PPPoE failing.
This time I got through tier 1 an tier 2 fairly quickly and he also immediately agreed that there was a problem on their end and issued me a trouble number and a call back number and it was fixed within 2 hours.
I would normally let this go, but this week it happened again.
But it was backup again shortly after I called in.
My quesstion is if this happens again what information indicates what is happening so that I can get it fixed after only 20 question or evey 200 questions and not the 200,000 questions that I had to go through the first time. |

| If both ATM tests fail, then you have no ATM circuit. It might have been taken down for maintenance or equipment failure.
When you call in simply tell Tier 1 that you have no ATM circuit. At that point they should connect you to Tier 2 because there is nothing you could do on your end that could be causing this. You might have to keep reminding them of this fact. I've had to tell Tier 1 this over and over. |

You did good in getting rid of the 4100b. I remember when we used to go and collect them up from customers a couple of years back and give them free Motorola 2210 modems.
If you are on a RT, then it sounds as though the NOC may have accidentally removed your virtual cross connect, or it could have been removed by mistake by a batch file the NOC runs every so often. I would call ASI at 1-866-583-2494 and ask them if this has happened. They should be more than happy to help you. Unfortunatly, I cannot give our our internal number for the NOC, but the ASI tech should be able to solve your problems. Hope this helps!
Good luck,
