| Question regarding sales of used CD's / DVD's
Something occurs to me...
In the **AA's zeal to nail those who would share / distribute copyright material, a thought came to mind.
The first purchase of a CD or DVD gets the **AA's what they want, that is a royalty paid to them for the purchase of the media and the intellectual property on it.
However, any secondary sale nets them zero which to my mind begs the question, why isn't the **AA spin machine trying to eliminate the market for "used" products?
Part of the answer does lie in the fact that there are large merchandisers that deal with used product (Blockbuster, Wal-Mart etc.) and the **AA's wouldn't want to face them in court, but surely there must be more to it than that? A secret backroom deal/payment scheme? How does that work with the smaller retailers of used goods?
Questions, questions, questions...
