Exactly my point. Why install copper lines, that would require you to upgrade them in a few years, when you can go straight to fiber optics that will allow you to deliver speeds 50x faster than copper?

That was then; this is now--technology marches on. Fiber can be damaged just as easily as copper. Leave a copper wire to itself and it will last a long, long time--way more than 50 years.
