 | Why can't they have free incoming. Why can't they have free incoming.
What will they do if some gets hit $1000+ bill for incoming SMS force you to pay it? |

I could get 1000 text messages and if I delete them first I won't get charged. |

In the early '90s I lived on one town and worked in another which only had US Cellular service. I refused to use my cell phone there because US Cell charged a $1 daily roaming fee plus $1 per minute. That meant my first call each day would have cost me $2 minimum. I just turned my cell phone off when I was in that area and back on when I left it.
Thankfully those pirate like charges are now gone, and probably one day these will be too. -- Best of luck

 | reply to BF69 Nope. VZW charges you for receiving texts just the same as other carriers. |

| reply to pabster yep, I also get free incoming texts... do not like paying for outgoing @ 20 cents per... so I rarely do it. Rarely have over a buck or two on the bill from this, and I still find it insane.
Isn't the "sms" built into the freaking keepalive beacon or whatever it's called??? Doesn't that make it essentially free for the carriers to move them to and fro? What a markup too!!!
Also, I will NOT be talked into a "plan" for such an absurd thing. Rather just not send 'em very often... I call people back if it's important...
Texts aside, I find U.S. Cellular to be just fine. They bought out Cell One here, so I gave 'em a chance... Better billing, better plan, cheaper price. 1400 anytime minutes, free incoming calls, no roaming, nights/weekends @ 7 |

 | reply to BF69 I don't believe that is possible. Once it's on your phone, it's on your phone. |
