edit:
July 2nd, @08:40PM

Looks like the bomb technicians buried it too deep to maximize it's effectiveness. But i really don't know what I'm talking about. Ignoring the gravity of the situation, it looked pretty darn cool.

edit: the "bomb technician" part of my post is sarcasm, just in case anyone tries to take that wrong.

Couple feet futher to the left and one of those vehicles could have got some pretty bad damage.

I dunno. It looks almost too good to be real. Why is there a split second "glitch" right before the ground up wells? I am voting fake. But yeah....it does look pretty cool, regardless.

Well it is quite stunning for the gents in the hummvee. I'm just really convinced that it's too perfect of an explosion.
If anybody has seen a similar blast(I havent and I look all the time) please post here as to easy my skepticism. Our troops are in harms way every miserable day over there and I just wish em' luck to avoid things like this!

I agree with Lurch. It may be a real explosion, but I don't think from an IED out in the field.

My brother was stationed in Iraq for a year repairing vehicles hit with IEDs, mainly the Buffalo. He showed pictures of the damage they did to vehicles and how the IEDs were being planted in the ground. In almost all the cases that he talked about the IED was buried just under the surface, or was buried vertically with one end just under the surface.

In this video, there is way to much dirt that is being tossed into the air, meaning it was buried quit deep. If a Humvee was driving over that, sure it would do damage and the occupants would be banged up, but it wouldn't be nearly as effective as the same charge just under the surface where the maximum amount of force would be realized.
