some dont care

Look some people could care less about the net period or do so little on it that dial up is fine. And I agree the prices for really good speed (over 5mb) are really too high and just not available. I want FIOS but it is not going to be cheap. I know people who have fios avail and stay on verizon dsl and they use the net daily. they dont want to deal with change. Same reason they stay on aol or dont get a new computer. What they have works for their current need. Gamers push the speed envelope. Oh and bit torrent people. But I think the industry realizes they are only 2% of all web users

That would be believable if it was 6 or more years ago. Most websites use flash or are heavy in graphics. They literally take over a minute to load on dial-up. Who in their right mind wants to put up with that? They say "time is money" so saving time is saving money.

"Twenty-four percent of rural dial-up users say they would get broadband if it becomes available, compared with 11 percent for suburbanites and 3 percent for city dwellers."

Now this is mroe beleivable and tells the TRUE story. Of course those that live in the city and have dial-up actually ant it. They HAVE choices and CHOOSE to stay with dial-up for whatever reason. 1/4( probbaly higher ) that lvie in areas WITGHOUT broadband want it. This is MILLIONS of potential new customers. Why ISPs don't want these MILLIONS of new customers is beyond me.
