| DSL-G624T - How do I turn it into an Access Point only
My brother has acquired a DSL-G624T which he would like to turn into a WLAN access point only behind his router. As far as I can see he needs to do the following on the router:
- Turn DHCP off - Set the LAN IP to 192.168.20.2/255.255.255.0. I do not know how to disable the WAN - perhaps by making no entries and changing the Connection Setting to Manual. - I am not sure what to do about the DNS settings but I hope he can leave them alone and wireless PC's will get their settings from the primary router's DHCP server. - Set up the wireless channel, security and so on
Have I got it right or have I missed anything?
Thanks,
Nick |

| Should work!
No need to do anything with the WAN port. Just don't plug anything in to it!
Netgear do a nice job of explaining how to turn a wireless router in to a wireless access point:

| Would there be anything stopping the D-link from going working with a 192.168.20.2 address on a 192.168.20.x network? I could not get this going over the phone last night, but we got it going by moving the whole network onto 192.168.1.x (which I don't really want) |

In which country your brother bought this DSL-G624T? I'm looking for a firmware to this router, but I'm not able to find it.
And google does not return too many results.
thanks in advance |

| Ok, thanks for your reply.
Do you already set some Virtual Server?
I've been trying to set this but I'm stuck on this:
I need to open port ranges on Virtual Server. I already did this on others d-Link models, but this DSL-G624T I'm not able.
When I specify on Application Rules, Port start and Port End it's fine, but on Port map, I'm just able to set only one number, only one port.
do you know how does work this on DSL-G624T?
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards |
