(remove/fudge any sensitive information)

Has the ISP confirmed that your router has logged in to their network successfully, and not just meerly established a connection to the DSLAM?

I am not familiar with SDM so I cant help you in that respect. I configure all of my routers via the CLI - and thats the way it should be. :-)

anon : I bought this baby primarily to integrate all the services (routing, switching, ADSl modem-internet, wireless) in one device.

I did found out that Cisco is not for lighthearted. My knowledge of networking may be limited, but I have successfully configured every other (cheap) equipment with no fuss.

Is it possible to achieve plain internet access for local network by using solely SDM 2.5? and not the CLI. Can anyone of you describe step by step config for the above.

I have done so far:

setting up a dialer interface with the all the ISP related parameters

VPI, VCI
negotiation type
authentication type
login, password
NAT outside

Assigned ISP's DNS server manually

PAT inside for BVI interface

and it seems to be working as CD led and PPP led on the ADSL group are lighted and checking with ISP helpdesk a connection has been established.

However. no IP address is assigned to either a dialer or ATM. While testing a connection I can see that:

1. Interface is active - check mark
2. DNS are setup - check mark
3. a public address is assigned to the interface (this address however never shows up on interface info page within SDM) - check mark
4. while pinging DNS no exit interface error - red x

How can I connect 2 interfaces together
Do I connect Dialer and BVI or
Dialer and ETH0 or
setup a VLI with two of them together

I know that CISCO lets you setup every option imaginable, but configuring simple WAN access should be more simple and reachable within its graphic interface. Can someone help?
