 | Lies. You have to assume there is going to be at least a minimum of 2 downloads a person(probably even more). |

How many people downloaded, changed their IP address, and downloaded again? The answer is not very many at all. |

 | reply to winterforge That may be the case, but considering their market share when compared to IE's market share. I got to imagine an auto updated for windows or a service pack easily has more unique downloads in the first 24 hours. Making this record sad. |

I have to imagine that when the browser is embedded in the OS such as in the case of IE the numbers are going to be higher.
IEs market share is IMO only there because it comes with the OS and some just use what is put in front of them. Now close to 20% of users are choosing to ignore what is embedded in their OS is not so sad.
Depends on how you look at the numbers and reasons. -- "Facts beat FUD any day of the week and twice on Sundays". |

 | You may criticize windows all you want and IE, but that doesn't change that they easily have had more than 8 million downloads of their updates in a 24 hour period. Yes, Firefox is better than IE(mostly due to add-ons), but you can't give Mozilla bullshit records because of that. Really this says a lot of the Guinness book of world records. They clearly aren't as strict about records as they claim to be. Maybe they did this because Microsoft won't give out their numbers, but that really is no excuse. Simple math discredits Firefox's record. And you can't say Microsoft's updates don't count because they are automatic, because most Firefox user's probably updated purely because their v2 browser told them to and did it for them. |

| Where did you get that I criticized IE from?
I simply stated the facts of the matter with some thoughts of my own on why IE has the numbers. -- "Facts beat FUD any day of the week and twice on Sundays". |
