@QWEST.NET | VDSL TV
Heard a rumor the TV portion of VDSL was to be done away with. The internet part kept maybe upgraded to something else. Take the current customers and offer them the satellite resell deal. No more VDSL TV after x date. Gone. |

| reply to VDSL TV Thought time frame may be quicker on TV disconnect. Say January. Know the internet portion will stay around. Have not heard if upgrade on internet or time frame on that. Know TV portion will be gone. May get incentive pricing later in year for transition. I wonder though how quickly they think even the number of customers Qwest has can be transitioned to satellite. Fairly sure some may just go for cable bundle and leave. |

| reply to VDSL TV I have qwest choice tv and qwest has been advertising some very good promotional deals to switch over to Direct TV on the information channel. I also received a mailer the other day with some great deals. Based on this information I concluded that they are trying to phase out qwest tv, so I decided to call qwest and ask. The customer service person stated that they do not have any plans at this time to discontinue the qwest choice tv service, but that they will not be adding any new channels to qwest choice tv. The customer service person stated they entered this new partnership with direct tv to be able to offer customers an additional choice for customers that may want my high definition stations and want dvr capabilities.
I am not sure what to believe. Does anybody have a definite answer? Does anybody know if they are going to be offering better deals to switch over at a later date?
Thanks |

| reply to VDSL TV There should or may be better deals later. To me it is a balance of good deal and not wait until every other customer is moving. There is no official word yet I can find but heard many rumors that the TV portion is on limited time. Yes seeing all those Direct TV ads all over the VDSL service is a hint. |

| reply to VDSL TV Hey if I did not talk to myself who would? But it is not official yet so anonymous it will be. However the second poster is not me so I did get some confirmation. I know direct TV is coming. The net is staying. What I would like to know is if any plans once TV is gone if net may turn ADSL2 with the higher speeds. That part of the rumour I have not heard. |

My question is when i look at packages on qwest's site everything is about 5-10 dollars higher then on Directv's website. Can some one comfirm some information with me in PM's? Someone either working in Choice TV or someone who recently switched to Directv from Choice TV |

@QWEST.NET | reply to VDSL TV There should be a bundle discount. Plus there may be free months to switch later in the year and better deals if I am right. But what type info did you need? |

| reply to VDSL TV No bundle discount was listed... they were all 0.00 for discounts (I don't have home Phone)
I'm looking to see what hidden fees are listed... does it cost to rent the receivers. If a phone line is not connected does Directv charge me like Dish Network. |

| No, DirecTV typically doesn't care if you have the phone line connected or not (even though I've heard before that they require it be connected via phone line). They'll typically ask that it's connected, but you can usually easily persuade them to leave it disconnected, and it won't affect the bill unless they get pissy about it. The only thing it affects is if you need pay-per-view or anything like that, but then you probably already knew that part. Activating the service is done directly from the satellite (as with Dish Network if I recall properly) so you won't need the phone line at all unless you need pay-by-remote services. |

| reply to VDSL TV What about things like upfront costs. Also do I rent the receivers from them? I have read some seriously bad reviews on DirecTV recently. I know that I will not get DISH they nickel and dime you to death. So it's Cox (fiancee hates them) or DirecTV.
I'm worried that they will screw me over. Granted where I live we do not have alot of storms or wind (except last night WHEW! 1.5 inches of rain in less then 30 mins) But I really hate it when companies charge you to come out to get reception again. How do they justify it? |
