net going out frequently

Any time of the day usually after 3pm the net will go out and DSL light will blink. It has been more frequently last couple days. Person I talked to said it was fine then but they'll monitor the connection for 7 days. I doubt they really will monitor it. technician has come out and said he installed filters for the box outside so we don't need to use filters. I only have 1 phone plugged in the wall. I am considering switching to cox.

Try and make an appointment for a field tech late in the day and be home. It could be a thermal issue related to the heat. Or heck do sprinklers for lawn come on later in the day. Is there any static on the phone?

This has been happening to me about once a day for a week. I have the 2701HG-D modem and everything completely resets. I have to re-enter my username and password and redo all of the port forwarding stuff again. Maybe others can respond if this is a widespread problem. I'm in Portland.

Wow, I hope not. I've only had it since April. I will say it seems to have nothing to do with how much internet traffic I have going. Once it happened in the middle of the night when I had no computers on. Sounds like a call to the Qwest people may be in order.

I'd say modem issue, I've never heard of DSL outages resetting your modem settings.

Did your modem reset it self with out your doing, that would be a bad modem if it did.

I replaced a modem in New River yesterday, have an appointment to problem-solve 2 more Qwest accounts today and tomorrow. Funny thing is, the new modem owner called me 8 times this morning to ask me why she can't get on the net.
Am talking to my new friend "John" @ Qwest right now trying to tell me it is a microsoft or zone alarm patch issue...yet he can't say which one nor any specific patch. Anyone know where to gleen Qwest network status? John doesn't know.
