| Why is ATT launching in TN
Has anyone given any thought of why ATT is launching in TN?
Take a look at the markets they are launching. They are hitting all the areas where there is a municipal overbuild. Why is that? They are hitting other areas as well, but they are concentrating on the municipal fiber builds.
I can tell you why. The fiber build are being funded by tax payers money. They have done their budget based on having just one competitor. In most cases, the local incumbent cable provider is not well liked. The municipal knows they will be able to come in and get a good portion of the customer base.
ATT is trying to send a message. ATT plans to get in and teach the municipal a lesson. They will drive the overbuilds to spend precious funds in marketing and customer acquisition. The overbuilds will eventually have to go back to the city and ask for more money and it will not be there.
Tennessee has more municipal overbuilds then any other state. ATT will use everything in their power to make sure that no one will dominant them. Tennessee is the battle ground.
I have already talked to two different municipalities that where thinking about launching fiber to the home. They have both decided to wait and see how the current providers play against ATT.
This is going to be interesting. |
