| ETA...April 15, 2009???!!! C'mon now...
*sigh*
Was waiting on TS in my area. The TS techs and the TS site were quoting me July 30th, 2008 since last year. I was excited and waiting...then I check the site not a week or two ago and they've updated the "ETA" for my area...

Bloody ridiculous...how long does it take for Bell to install a damn line card so I can use DSL???? Or whatever the heck it's called that enables it for my line...I've been waiting a year to leave Rogers and still stuck with them . |

Whoa... that really bytes Do you live in a really populated area or are you out in the boonies? It's odd that the dates would change that much unless you are in a small town... Bell's even been paying attention to the small towns though, lately... so again, it's odd.

| reply to Bender_2k I live near Islington/Rutherford (yes...the area packed with all those houses and new subdivisions).
If the CO is full...do you think Bell would outright refuse to hook me up or do you think they have slots open for potential Sympatico customers and none for TekSavvy customers? |

Try to sign up for the most basic sympatico service, just make sure there isn't a contract involved. If they provision your service, and it works, check the line stats, then cancel, and switch to teksavvy.
Some people have had success doing it. -- ,,!,,('-'),,!,, |

| reply to Bender_2k Yes, and using that tactic to sign up for the cheapest sympatico service with no contract, then switching to TekSavvy always works.
It's like they magically discover an open slot. |

| reply to Bender_2k Gonna try that on Monday (or are they open on Sundays?) and get it all setup if possible.
I actually did try signing up with Sympatico in November (just as a "what if" scenario) and they were gonna go through with it but had doubts if they'd keep the line provisioned after leaving them after just a month.
*sigh* it shouldn't be this difficult to get affordable uncapped Internet service.
Thanks for the info everybody! |

| reply to the cerberus said by the cerberus :If he could sign up for Bell DSL wouldn't this prove anti competitive behavior? No not at all. You have to understand Bell has a huge congestion problem and not enough bandwidth. If they were to add another card to that full CO to give the OP service with TSI it would make the congestion worse. TSI caps are much higher then Bells small download caps.
So really what they are doing is improving the internet for the 95% of the people who don't abuse it
My post above is of course a joke |

Signed up with Bell for a month with no contract and signed up with Teksavvy. Went really smooth that way. |

| reply to Bender_2k I tried going the long way from person to person seeing if they understood the words "provision my line for DSL". They told me they had no more capacity until April 2009 (AFTER I told them that's what TekSavvy told me...).
Gonna try setting up a Sympatico account and see if that will get me on the DSL bandwagon (hopefully they'll give me a month free no contract like the Bell sites advertising...).
EDIT: And that's that, tried signing up for Sympatico DSL...they told me it's also not available, so it looks like the CO is in fact full . |

| reply to Bender_2k said by Bender_2k :EDIT: And that's that, tried signing up for Sympatico DSL...they told me it's also not available, so it looks like the CO is in fact full . I have absolutely NO faith in whatever tool sympatico uses to claim "Sympatico DSL...they told me it's also not available" I can't tell you how many of my friends they have told that too.
Some I thought possible, but 1 only moved a mile away from me and I'm on a mile from the CO. Plus she lives 100 yards from a large Catholic Girls High School(mmmhhh.. school girls) that has it's own DSLAM. She had a service call one day, because she has phone and satellite from bell. I was there and asked him to try out the dsl just for the hell of it. A minute later she had a great 5MB connection.
2 family members and a friend live on the outskirts of town. Told DSL is not available in your area. When the tech was over wiring in my sisters phone line I asked him to make sure dsl was available on the phone line incase it became available in the future. Brought over my modem when I was setting up her computer the next day. Logged into my teksavvy account and tried to download ZoneAlarm and was getting a 3MB connection. Got all 3 of my friends and family hooked up.
What the hell does sympatico used to determine these things? |
