I cancelled tv and hooked the modem direct and was at -5 for a couple of days.  I cancelled my TV service and mind you they havent put up a tap yet but my signal has dropped to -13.]]></description>

TW assigns network priority based on how many services you get. Dropping TV may well degrade their Internet and/or phone service.<br><br>The main reason I don't switch is that there is only one other broadband option where I live and the best they offer is 6/384. I only get about half the speeds I'm supposed to at night and don't want to be shoved further down the network priority list.]]></description>

When TWC upgraded the OCAP boxes a couple months back, the new version of the software REMOVED the routines to automatically detect the monitor attached to the box.  Now you must go into the settings menu and define the resolutions that your monitor supports.<br><br>Now, this has been a hit and miss effort for TWC cause people that bought shitty TV's (aka: low cost) didn't fully support the HDMI communication standards that told the OCAP boxes what resolutions were supported.  So instead TWC went back and makes the user define what their TV can do native to the panel.]]></description>

There is a quick set up option that defaults to 1080i and 480p that is easiest. Power Box OFF and then press "guide" and "info" on set top box.
