I had a Telus modem that I exchanged for a free Shaw modem i.e no $5/ month charge. But, have you thought that if Telus gave you the 'router', they also control the settings on it and what is allowed in?

The Shaw modem and your choice of router is a far better and more reliable solution. The 2Wire is a royal piece of crap as is the Siemens that Telus offers. HOWEVER, the big plus being with Telus is they give you a pretty good modem/router combo for free rental, its a 2Wire
