| [Rant] Wrong number
If you need to reach someone urgently and are told you have the wrong number, simply call from a different number. yup, that will do the trick.
I was out of town for the weekend (yay me)... I returned today to find 15 new messages on my machine. All for someone named William.
Apparently William's aunt needs to urgently return his keys to the vault. She urges William to call her back. The calls started on Thursday and came steadily ever few hours for the entire weekend.
I'm exhausted from the trip, so I took a nap. I was woken up by Williams aunt leaving yet another message on my machine. I ignored it and went back to sleep. 10 minutes later she called again. Hmm.. what to do.
I took the number she left on the machine and called her. I asked for William's aunt, she laughed and said I was speaking to her. I informed her she had the wrong number and was not reaching William. She apologized and promised she would find the right number. I wished her luck and hung up.
Turned up the AC, hopped back on the bed and went to sleep.
15 minutes later she called back, from a different number asking for William. I answered and kindly informed her she still had the wrong number. Again she apologized and hung up.
Did that end her calls? Nope. She called back again, now about an hour later from yet a different number. Still the wrong number maam.
She signed heavily and hung up without apologizing this time.
So much for sleeping.
Hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend. -- Tough times do not last, tough people do | |

| Been there, had some idiot call my home number, I told them they got the wrong number. They called back 5 minutes later, told them it was still the wrong number and has been for 6 years now. They called back 5 minutes later and then hung up after 4 rings. They called back again 10 minutes later, now I am pissed! Told them they had the wrong f*****g number and DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER AGAIN! They start swearing at me, for using profanity, and "how rude" I was. I replied that I was not the ****** stupid ****** repeatedly calling the wrong number, and they should never call my number again. They finally stopped calling. Worse than telemarketers! |

| reply to sfromsf I have a home number that is very similar ( 1 digit off) from several businesses. I'm use to getting lots of wrong numbers. I've finally just started screening my phone calls and let the answering machine deal with the wrong numbers. I always find it amusing when someone will leave a message to apologize for calling the wrong number. |

I had the same number but different area code as a church in Modesto. When callers asked to speak to "Father......" I usually kept the profanity to a minimum.
I used to run an automated voice-mail system for a non-profit. The outgoing messages varied, but were often three to five minutes long and of a technical nature. It was amazing how many guys still left messages for some girl who gave them a bogus number, even after supposedly listening to the completely unrelated outgoing message. -- Weather forecast for tonight: dark.
