Re: Clearwire pricing/Competition or Partner

Actually the RF technology we will be deploying is based on the IEEE 802.16e fully mobile WiMAX standard.

A mobile user will handover seamlessly from one AP to another with no interruption of service.

This is the same WiMAX that Sprint XOHM will use. And we use the same vendors.

My fiber optic is not a clear wire. It has a reflective coating that forces the light to travel along a certain path.
It sounds like you need to do some research on Total Internal Reflection (»en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_inte···flection). There isn't a "reflecitve coating" in fiber optic cable.

Semantics. The boundary layer (cladding) reflects the light along a specific path through the core.

Regardless, my main point was that the fiber optic cable (nor the fiber strand(s) inside) is not "clear".

That deal, in which Clearwire and Sprint would split the country and roam on each others networks, has been scrapped- the new plan is to merge Xohm and Clearwire into a company that will be 51% owned by Sprint- there will be no distinction between the two networks after the merger.

Fiber optic is a clear wire. Wireless means there is no wire.

If that's what they're going for then they are too cute by half.

But what guru decided to use such a badly-reputated brand name to market their superior network under?
BTW, it's mainly known as XOHM, not Clearwire. ClearCrap will only own part of the network and shoulder part of the associated costs/profits...

Because clearwire uses a crappy fixed specification of WiMax.
The new Xohm network will use much superior technology compared to ClearCrap, which will have better backhaul and will actually be truly mobile.
The new network may be split with clearwire, but it sure as hell won't use existing ClearCrap equipment.

Technically, their deal hasn't gone through, so Sprint has to do everything on their own for now in their launch- once the deal goes through the early Xohm network will be merged with Clearwire, though Sprint may keep Xohm branding on Sprint-sold services.

Then why is Sprint treating it like it has nothing to do with Clearwire on a lot of their articles that I have seen?
From what I have seen and the newsletters I get Sprint is still using the XOHM name and Clearwire is stilling deploying their services with the backing of the others like Sprint, Camcast, Inetl etc..

Sprint's WiMax IS Clearwire, just a new company with investments from some big players.

How is this going to price against their partner Clearwire. Clearwire will be launching in Bmore by end of year also.. Clearwire's speeds do not compare right now to what Wimax will offer..
