It sounds like you need to do some research on Total Internal Reflection (»en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_inte···flection). There isn't a "reflecitve coating" in fiber optic cable.

The boundary layer (cladding) reflects the light along a specific path through the core.
Regardless, my main point was that the fiber optic cable (nor the fiber strand(s) inside) is not "clear". | |
