So the modem complied, disconnecting the connection to the ethernet port, changed to the new upstream channel, found it's previously stored upstream level invalid on the new channel, re-ranged on the new upstream channel, and finally re-enabling the ethernet port.

That would mean multiple upstream channels are available.
