No iPhone for you!

Insider Rogers Cell Phone Employee: "The entire Canadian shipment for the iPhone July 11th launch, is 2,000 iPhones... far below the demand."

Rogers will lie and say otherwise. Apple diverted the other 10,000 iPhones to the EU markets.

Am i the only one ok with the plans? I don't plan on going online that much with it, unless i am at home or office with the wireless LAN over here. I've been with rogers for more then a decade now, so the 3 year contract i don't care about. I don't mind the 200$ and plan per month is about what i pay now.

I'm glad you are happy with Rogers (Although you didn't say that... do you have a choice to go to another carrier?) It is a 3 year plan, which is longer than any other cell phone company on Earth. There are a lot of things that could make you change your mind during those three years, and a change in income (for the worse) is possible. I've seen it happen and people were forced into early termination clauses because it was cheaper.

It is a lot of extra cost for no real benefit. A pure money grab. There is nothing 'special' about Rogers. They use the same equipment that they do here in the States which means that every dollar you spend over the US plan rates is simply extra money that you are tossing to Roger's shareholders for no benefit.

If you don't mind paying extra for nothing, then could you do me a favor and just send it my way. I'd even send you a personal thank you card, which is more than you would receive from Rogers.

No heavily used phone will last 3 years. If you are in a 3 year contract, not only are you locked into the high rates for 3 years but if you need a phone to make use of the remaining time on the contract, you will have to pay full price.

IIRC the Iphone does not have a user replaceable battery, so right there is the first failure point. Li batteries typically last 2 years with normal charging frequency.

But then again, if some one can afford those rates, they can pop for a new phone at list price.
