Re: Truth

The enemy of your enemy... etc.

We shouldn't discount the support of Google just because it's ALSO in their interest to keep the isps neutral. Just because they aren't selflessly acting on our behalf does that make them wrong?

Just because it benefits them doesn't mean it's not true either.

The MPAA and RIAA are wasting money by lobbying ISP's. They should make torrent technology illegal because after it all it has no lawful uses whatsoever.

Yes, I d/l but never to such a degree where it would congest my ISP's network. 35 GB is my all time high.

Hey, if the networks or their distributors won't release material I like to watch and would buy on DVD, then I'll find it online and take it for free.

You can't make a "technology" illegal!

"They should make torrent technology illegal because after it all it has no lawful uses whatsoever."

@jarthur31, to put it simply... You're out to lunch!

BitTorrent technology is being adopted for many perfectly legitimate uses. And the technology is still considered to be in its "infancy".

If the ISPs would just stop kissing MAFIAA ass, and let this technology develop (instead of deliberately interfering with it), some really useful innovations revolving around its usage would surely emerge.

By your thinking, we should make things like CARS, KNIVES, PLASTIC BAGS, and even SPEECH illegal, as some people have used these things to seriously hurt of even kill others!

You cannot blame a TOOL for what some people do with it. Any technology is just that - a tool.

...Mind you, there ARE some "tools" I could blame for the current state of the Internet!

Re: Truth

you might as well ban phones since they aid terrorists, or encryption software, since it helps druglords/terrorists communicate. Just cause a technology has a certain illegal uses doesn't mean you ban it... and there's nothing like bad publicity. When you ban it, more people learn about it, and it just moves underground to become more popular. Banning something isn't the solution, it only makes the illicit uses of it even more popular.

You might as well make ALL electronic devices illegal since everything can be used illegaly in some way or another. Just turn off electricity too and running water and cars and we'll just go back to the stone age.

i think bit torrent and other p2p usage should be increased. in general, it reduces the main content provider/hoster needed bandwidth and can increase the speed of the downloader.

It is true. Bell is throttling connections to the Internet.... not just on their service, but for other ISP's as well.

If you've been reading the Teksavvy forums, you'll realize Google is late to the game on this issue.

Still doesn't make them wrong, however.

Re: Truth

I was poking fun at the people that automatically believes everything that someone on their side says.

But, yeah, what Bell is doing is wrong and set a dangerous precedent for making future "network management" blockages.
