i've done that before and it works well. be careful with the coatings on the rear element. it's a lot softer than the main element. you can take a rear cap with a hole drilled in it and an adapter ring glued to that and you have a way of adding accessories on the front of the lens.
you can also do the same thing with a body cap + ring to attach the reversed lens to the camera.. here's one of mine..

With my right hand I hold the K10D with the Viv S1 105 pre-focused to the distance I *think* I can get from the critter all the while holding a Promaster 7500 EDF flash in wireless mode in my left hand.
