So much for a Democratic Congress.....

Just proves my point that Congress is bought and paid for no matter what the party affiliation.

If neither Presidential candidate steps up to the plate and goes against this bill, then maybe it's time to give the Green party a chance. At the least we can show the two other parties that we are tired of getting reamed without knowing it and we might as well test out the Green Fairy's water.

Heck no...Demoocrats are better than Greens...Nader backed the religious loonies on the Schiavo thing and they get money from many of the same people who donate to far-right turds like Rick Santorum. Furthermore, actress Susan Sarandon, a prominent Greenie, is a personal friend and donor to Alvaro Noboa, an Ecuadorean businessman (the country's wealthies, in fact) who uses child labour and sends paramilitaries after union organisers and a perennial far-right candidate who nearly beat radical social democrat Rafael Correa in that country's latest election.

If you are that disgusted by the Democrats and want to vote left, choose one of the many socialist or communist parties who have not endorsed Obama. Just don't vote for McBush: He's nutty.

Not a bad choice. Voting Socialist this year. Fed up with the Democrat/Republican nonsense. I'd encourage anyone considering third parties to do so as well.

No, it just proves most Congresscritters recognize the need to spy on our enemy and face the reality of the world as it is today.

They were doing it perfectly legal before. If they had probable cause, then you can obtain a warrant.

Do you have a problem with how the law is written?

So basically what you're saying is every American citizen is our enemy.

In fact YOU are our enemy, so our ever-loving, ever-watchful nanny state has to keep an eye on what YOU, TK Junk Mail, are saying on the telephone and doing online.

This has nothing whatsoever to do with al Qaeda or any other terrorist group, although they provide a convenient cover for people who are easily manipulated by scare tactics. This is all about grabbing as much power over the American people as they can.

Tell me this: Who is our enemy? Because I would really like to know.

No, really. Who is our enemy? Any noun will do, person, place, thing, idea...wait, not just any noun. "The terrorists" don't count as it is barely more than an abstraction. Name some enemies. I'd like to know who they are so I may agree with you on whether they need to be spied on in such a manner.

yeah this is a really, really great idea. Look at how well Socialism/Communism has done in Russia, China, Cuba, and Venezuela. ooh I just can't wait to live under totalitarian rule.

You think your freedoms are being trampled because the US government is trying to catch terrorists? Just wait. In Russia, the secret police would take you away in the night for critizing the government. In Cuba, they just recently got the right to buy computers in a store. In North Korea, your food is rationed and many people are starving, so that the government can sell it to buy weapons and run a nuclear program.

That sounds really, really attractive.

You think corporations are bad? Wait until the government runs your life.

Ohhhh. You mean the ones who hate you because you keep invading them?

Spoiler: The only thing they "hate about your way of life" is the fact that you keep bombing them and exploiting THEIR oil reserves. Notice how the only countries you threaten to invade are the ones who threaten to stop trading oil with you.

And those who clearly do not understand the USA Socialist party's platform compare it to other countries using ZOMG (extreme) examples like this. For the most part, the democratic socialism practiced is all across Europe. Sweden, France, and Greece are but a few examples. They don't seem to be going under. There's more to a government than "communism", "socialism", "democracy", and any democracy has just the same likelihood of failure with corrupt government and stupid/repressed people.

People still amaze me.

On American soil? Weird, I thought Americans had these so-called "rights" and "freedoms" they like to romp around the world trying to spread like an STD.

Let's see. In France they regulate religion (schoolgirls are not allowed to wear their hi jabs (headdress) in school. There goes your freedom of religion. All store signs MUST be in French and they regulate the use of non-French words. Unemployment is sky high.

Yeah, I want to live in France. And before you say anything, I have actually been there.

There are a handful of people here that have a problem with the law and the Constitution and like to hyperventilate over the tur'rists.

France also targets religions known for certain crimes and heinous acts. Although, they do it officially, while the U.S. does it unofficially against Muslims, and has it's own history of open hate or bias against gays, women, blacks, italians, germans, japanese, etc. The French, like the U.S., have laws stating freedom of religion.

Granted, they can use a bit less paranoia, but sure as hell can the U.S.
