Internet options in Nice, France

Hello,

I will be moving to Nice, France, in September this year and I was hoping if someone who lives in the area could give me some feedback regarding good ISPs there. I have checked out the webpages some of the big players like Orange, Free, Neuf, Tele2 and another whose name slips me, and while their internet and phone packages seem very competitively priced, I wonder about a few other things. E.g.

- what is their customer service/support like?
- how long does it take for the connection to go live upon placing an order?
- are all ISPs contract-based (12 months or so) or are there also month-to-month options?
- are there some local ISPs in Nice that are better than the big guys?
- what kind of broadband speeds can I expect? It says 'up to 20 Mbps' but what are more real-life speeds like?
- do the ISPs slow bittorrent down?
- even though it says 'unlimited', do they enforce/have in place some hidden caps?
- how is the phone service of providers like Tele2 and Free and can one truly call most EU landlines unlimited for a flat fee per month?

Many thanks in advance,
Black Moon
