Comcast NNTP server down?

It was working yesterday. Today it times out on me. I've been using news.comcast.net. Has it changed?

What do you have for the IP address? It's looking like opendns.org has a corrupted DNS entry for it.

Change back to default or alternate name servers and compare.

07/08/08 22:19:35 dns news.comcast.net
Canonical name: news.comcast.net
Addresses: 209.11.136.183

I use OpenDNS . . . no problems here.

Switched to newsgroups.comcast.net and it's working now. Ping fails on news.comcast.net.

This change worked for me also.

But why is this change required?

newsgroups.comcast.net has always been the "official" server name. news.comcast.net was an alias that has not been supported in years.

The FQDNs point to different IP addresses:
As compared with:
The first FQDN points to a Globix IP address assigned to an entity called, "Digital Impact".

The second FQDN points to a Giganews IP address.
