sometimes i swear java is the only software that makes you uninstall old versions, very annoying :P

I just upgraded to Java Version 6 Update 7. When I open the Java Control Panel I get an IE/Vista message saying a website wants to open web content using this program on your computer. It also says the program does not have a valid digital signature that verifies its publisher. I have to press the allow button to open it. Is this the way it’s supposed to work or did the installation mess something up? I upgraded when the previous version notified me that a new version was available. I followed the prompts and installed it. I then uninstalled the previous version. Is the problem that I am opening it from the java icon on the task bar during an IE session? If I open it through the Vista control panel there is no message.

This is actually intentional on the part of Sun. Many corporate and enterprise customers specifically want this ability.

I entirely agree that there should at least be an option to remove previous versions, however, as part of the java installer.
