| Embarq and Fastpath.
Hey, I recently moved from New York City to Farmville,Va. Switching from 35 mb to 1.5 mb:P is a huge difference. 1.5mb is the fastest I can get here and that too by Embarq its still better then nothing.
I'm into online games and latency have been a problem for me recently. I read a couple of posts from some users related to fastpath. How exactly does it work. Whats the best possible way to be switched over to fastpath?
Anything would be helpfull I appreciated. |

| reply to Zee3b I would not hold your breath but would check anyway. The availability of Fast-Path is a factor of how clean your connection is. Fast-Path reduces latency by cutting out some of the error correction of Interleave. The fact that 1.5 service is the best you can get does not bode well on this issue. Although I guess it is possible that you are too far from a DSLAM to get 5.0 service, yet still have clean lines. |

| reply to Zee3b Give the Embarq tech support line a call, worked for me. Explain that you are trying to improve latency for the use of a VPN client, and wanted to know if your DSLAM supported a certain feature. The tech will ssh into your DSLAM(if it supports remote administration) and check it out. The setting you want is interleave set to "fast". -- "Omnia iam fient fieri quae posse negabam." - Ovid |

| reply to Zee3b Most of the DSLAMs Embarq utilizes do support fast path, but there are some that are just not recommended by the vendors to use fast path. With that said, most of the those DSLAMs have been replaced or are scheduled to be replaced. Using chat is usually the fastest and easiest way to get fast path done. |
