I'm sure they could probably pump it up, but they don't need to. There is no DSL available to most people where I live, the other cable Co (Time Warner) wanted nothing to do with our section (we are fairly rural) I am happy to have the 5megs. We now have a state of the art system as opposed to the copper that the surrounding 30 mile radius has.

| HFC is a state of the art system its not fully copper like DSL. Just because you have FTTH doesn't make everything else not "state-of-the-art" DOCSIS SOTA and not going anywhere soon. I wouldn't be surprised if DSL didnt come available to you or something else.
ATT did that to me where i used to live. DSL wasn't available to rural and lived in a town of 25,000. TWC came in and dropped RR DSL was available the next day.
The equipment is there it's just not turned on and they won't do it until it needs to be. |
