RevMortis : One more note: once you have DDWRT running on both WRT's you may want to have the v5 be the bridge and the v2 be the Router. The V2 can handle a more feature rich firmware. which may be more helpful in the long run. :)

RevMortis : As requested:

So the WRT54Gv5 is the DHCP server. The WRT54Gv2 is acting like a bridge. All devices behind the v5 are still under the v2 for DHCP.

IIRC stock firmware will not do Static DCHP. DDWRT will. DDWRT Micro edition can be flashed onto the the v5.

Here's a Linky to the flashing instructions: »www.bitsum.com/openwiking/owbase···54G5_CFE

And of course »www.dd-wrt.com

At that point you can specify the Static DHCP for the Phone.

SipSizzurp : If you are not able to program the phone itself with a static IP then can use static DHCP if the primary router supports static DHCP. I have not seen Linksys stock firmware in so long that I don't know if it can or cannot. You can load it with DD-WRT if need be to enable static DHCP.

Bridged wireless connection - how do I assign IP address?

Ecuintras : My setup is thusly: Cable modem to WRT54G ver5 official firmware wirelessly bridged to a WRT54G ver2 running DDWRT v23. From there I have a voip phone that needs to be on port 1 and have the address be 192.168.1.100 and a computer that will connect just fine with the wired connection. How do I manually assign that IP address to my phone? I work from home and absolutely need my phone to work. Unfortunately the tech support doesn't understand my situation (that my workspace is on the other side of my house from my modem). Can you guys help me out?
