| Re: Lil bit of grease.. Hear, hear. Imagine a marketplace actually having competitive discipline! Who would have thought that massive consumer backlash actually sends a signal to our evil corporate overlords? Apparently, it's possible for a company to fix a mistake without government getting involved. | |

Thanks I needed an afternoon laugh,
This pathetic short lived promotion reaks. Come on canadians say thank you to rogers for offering a limited promotion on a 3 year contract! Lame
Next they'll start charging for incoming text messages (oops too late for that).
Data is supposed to cost less to move these days not more

If there was SOMETHING else out there besides Robers, trust me, there wouldn't have been such a big brouhaha about this. The problem is : we have nowhere else to go. The only choice is Robbers/Rape.

| Re: Lil bit of grease.. I am surprised as well... typically those that will be purchasing an iPhone will be getting it as soon as it comes out. The CRTC isn't all that heavy handed, and is just slightly more regulatory than the FCC. There's little competition in Canada, because the Canadian market is approaching saturation, and its 1/10th the size of the U.S. market. The thing that kills me on Canadian wireless is having to pay for long distance on a cell phone. If ANY carrier wants to break into the Canadian wireless market, deploy an IP based / VoIP wireless solution. Paying +$6/month for SAF, having to pay for LD... come on - LD is pracically free these days. -- Canada = Hollywood North | |

| Re: Lil bit of grease.. The foreign telecom ownership rules imposed by the Canadian government has really stopped any significant new competition in the Canadian market.
It has been recommended for years (by several groups and studies) that relaxing this restriction would enable more entrants in the mobile market.
Also, when the Canadian government allowed the sale of Fido to Rogers that eliminated any real national competition for GSM. That sale should not have been allowed to go through.

That sale should not have been allowed to go through. Why. Fido and it's parent company were pretty close to going under. If the sale hadn't gone through, you'd still have the same players eventually.
