 Dueling Boxes

I just got a digital adapter for my DVR (combo DVD/HD recorder). It is near my STB for my TV. Problem is that the remote for either controls both boxes. So if I am recording something on my DVR and go to change the channel on the STB, the DA changes as well. Anyone know if there is a way to change either box so that their remote codes are different from each other? The STB is the 6416 HD-DVR.
Don't want to move the STB as I use it to watch DVDs on my TV.

You cant' change the remote code.

You could get an RF remote and put the receive for the RF remote so that it sits in front of the IR receiver on one of the 2 boxes, this would block the regular remote from using one of the boxes and then the RF remote could control the other box.

you could put black tape over the 6416 and just manually control it via the buttons on the front.

there are no buttons on the 700 so you'd have to use the remote for that.

That would make it difficult to setup recordings and ff/rew

Can you place the DA to the side or behind something? I had one similar problem. Customer had two TV's side by side and wanted each to have a DA so they could watch two different games simultaneously. I was able to get them to not interfere with each other by putting them on the ground on opposite sides of their assigned TV. As long as they kind of stayed to the left or right with each remote it seemed to work okay.
