| [northeast] VZ pulled FIOS Cables Down My Block in 11234 zip
FWIW a few VZ trucks woke me up early Monday morning while they were installing what I'm assuming were fiber cables on the poles along E 57 ST in Brooklyn.
Anyone know how long it usually takes them to start offering the service after the cables are hung?
Any Optimum online customers switch to VZ FIOS in Brooklyn with any stories to tell?

| reply to bluemagoo Yours is not the typical fiber pull, I'd expect Verizon to offer you fiber within only a few weeks. The reason I say this is because you're on one of the few blocks in our area that didn't have fiber strung about 12 months ago. The CO is active, all that really has to be done (I'd assume) is connections to the nearest optical splitter. Please post back here when they offer you service, I'm interested in knowing. Every morning when I drove my son to Madison HS throughout the spring until mid-June, I saw Verizon trucks working on fiber installations all along Ave. N - from the E. 50's all the way to Flatbush, and then throughout Marine Park too. -- Confusion Will Be My Epitaph |

| reply to bluemagoo As soon as they finish splicing the fiber at the HUB which would be on your block or about 1 block away. since you posted this in June you should be ready by now. If checking availability online dosen't work try asking a verizon tech in your neighborhood. Or if you're willing, reply with a contact number and I can get someone to call you to avoid the automated system and an appointment this week (i get points toward free stuff for referrals) |

@verizon.net | reply to bluemagoo repka, I am also at 11230; the Verizon guy told me FIOS would be available in October or earlier. |

@optonline.net | reply to bluemagoo I'm at 11223, between east 1st and mcdonald on Ave S. Anyone near me have FiOS or know when/if it will be coming to my area? I've got Optimum's highest tier net service, but I hear FiOS is just as good, and cheaper. Thanks! |

I pay CV (1 HD DVR, internet and phone, no movie channels) $140 / mo.
I looked into FiOS and on their website for video and data only was quoted something like $130/mo (again, no movie channels). That's with 20 meg internet. They apparently offer a lower tier 10 meg but I get faster than that with CV.
At this point FiOS TV is not looking that great. They have the same medioce HD lineup that CV has. Though, if VZ really does come oput with 150 HD channels I would switch in a heartbeat. |

| reply to bluemagoo Well it's now 10/21 & still no VZ FIOS sales people appearing at my door. I'm not really that interested in switching from CV's Optimum services but I figured I could at least get them to lower their bills for at least a year and then I'm hopefully out of here anyway.
From a basic business perspective I don't understand what's taking VZ so long to roll out their much advertised service in our neighborhood. |
