Re: And what about the caps..... said by PDXPLT:said by JaxFl :
If there were no FAP, 95% of the customers would suffer poor performance because of the 5% that would take advantage of the shared bandwidth. Exactly. The cap is 22 GB, and I never get close to it. If the hogs that use more than that get pissed off and cancel, that's fine with me: more bandwidth for those of us that are left. Using 22 GB is HARDLY being a hog. Also tehcnically is 22,000 MB which is 21.5 GB not 22.
And you only get 22 if you have the most expensvie tier. Caps are fine I understand the reasoning, but if you insist on charging $80 a month for 1.5Mbps then you beter have a better cap that that.
The lowest tier is $55 and only has a 9800 MB ( 9.6 GB ) cap. For that money my friend that lives few miles out of town might as well get a data plan from Verizon get the same speed and less latency. Sure their cap is only 5 GB but really is their a difference and there's not a $500 installation charge.
Any satelite customer that doesn't use "anywhere near" 22 GB as you say, that also has access to broadband from their cell company and stays with satelite is an idiot. |

 | That is the old caps...it is now 17gb for the top and 7.5gb for the bottom tier. |

Well, duh. Any satellite customer that has any access to any other form of broadband is an idiot. |

(though the service quality and latency are probably better) I would take the cellular 5GB over the satellite 17GB(not 22GB) any day of the weak without giving it a second thought. You just don't understand how worthless satellite internet is. Unless you are doing anything other than downloading it is a turd.(Sometimes even when your downloading) |

 | Amen brother. Amen. I switched to alltel EVDO wireless service. Downloads are half the speed of wildblue but I only have half a signal strength.. I love my new 100ms avg pings with unlimited usage and only 59.95/m.
