| Canopy Radio Homepage Gone
I am on one of the larger WISPS that exists in my state.
They use a mix on 900mhz 2.4ghz and 5.7ghz Motorola Canopy products to serve all their customers.
For the past two years, I was able to go to a 169.254.xxx.xxx address to see stats for the Canopy radio at my house, other radios and the Towers.
So basically my whole town was on the same subnet, so everyone had like 169.254.123.xxx.
Now, they had 169.254.123.1 as a MikroTik Router. That is the only thing I can see anymore.
All the tower modules and SMs no longer show up.
I don't think the internet company would want to shut this off, as I think the only way to do this would be to change access from public to local?
If thats the case, if they ever want to check a setting on a radio or diagnose a connection, they would have to come out to where the radio is located?
The radio's for other towns (on different subnets) are still all working.
I am trying to figure out if someone changed them without permission (maybe a disgruntled tech) so they would have to go out to everyone's house and hard reset the radios. Or is there another way they can open up access to the radio again?
Would a radio that was set to "Local Access Only" be able to be accessed through this method. This is what the techs do whenever the radio cannot see the tower.
Connect the POE plug/radio to back of computer. Change Connection settings to give your self a 169.254.123.xxx ip address.
Would this put you on local access, or do you physically have to do somehting to the radio? |

| I would edit the post, but I can't since im anonymous.
The internet company WOULD NOT HAVE shut them off because I was looking at them.
The tech that installed the internet connection added the links to my favorites and told me to check them if the connection stopped working.
If I could see the tower's page, I would know that the connection problem wasn't on my side etc. |

| reply to wisp_user They probably changed the network topology which is why you can no longer look at the radio page.
Without getting into too much technical detail, there is a way for the WISP to manage your CPE without using an IP address. They do this by logging into the AP, and then using what is called an LUID. Each radio has its own LUID when it is registered to the AP. They can select this LUID, and then connect to it. Doing this gives them the same configuration page as if they entered in an IP for the radio. -- "No job is so important, and no service is so urgent that we cannot take the time to do it safely." -- AT&T --Safety One Tower Rescue Certified --LLigetfa:"Wimax is like teenage sex. | reply to wisp_user Ok Thanks, I figured it would be something normal like that. It would have been bad if they had to go to 100 + people's houses and climb a couple of towers. The company hasn't made a profit in like 5 quarters. Plus, the tech people have to come from over 150 miles away.
However, I think lightning got some of their backhauls in the last few days.
I have a 1.5MB Down and 384K UP. I was getting 1.6M down and 350K up for the past few months. Now, Its down to 300 K Down and 400K up. I know this isn't due to them changing their topology, as I haven't been able to see the radio page for over 3 weeks almost. |
