| reply to Lanik Re: [FireFox] 3.0-- How do I make 'Talkback' go away?
Here's what seems to be the scoop--
When I reinstalled my OS (and Thunderbird and Firefox) a couple of weeks ago, all the 'Talkback' stuff got re-enabled in both applications. So even by setting 'crash report enabled' to '0' (in the Firefox Program Files 'application.ini', btw), by bringing up Thunderbird it was re-called by that app, due to my having a 'talkback' folder inside Thunderbird's 'extensions' folder.
Removing the 'talkback' folder from Thunderbird's 'extensions' folder, along with the 'crash report enabled-0' setting, seems to have done the trick. I've opened the browser and T-Bird a couple of times now, and no return so far of the 'Talkback' folder.
Thanks again for getting me pointed in the right direction, Lanik. |

| reply to GadgetsRme said by GadgetsRme :check in about:config and see if you have a entry for extensions.talkback. It has been so long that I don't remember for sure where it is at but that is where I'd look. No, nothing that refers specifically to 'Talkback'.
I've been through 'about:config' pretty thoroughly, have tried different things, yet can't make it go away. I can only assume I'm missing something, somewhere. The only info I can find on Mozillazine has to do with Firefox 2.x, or simply suggests removing it from add-ons, and as I've said, I don't have it listed there.
It has to be Firefox 3.0 doing this, as nothing has changed in T-Bird, and the behavior just started after installing Firefox 3.0. |

| I don't want to 'talk back' to Mozilla, I don't want to send any error reports. I want the Talkback folder to go away and stop returning, and all associated mechanisms removed or disabled.
I got rid of this on Firefox 2.x, but I can't seen to make it go away on 3.0. It always returns. No doubt it's a setting in 'about:config', but I can't figure out which one.
Grail Knight ? Lanik ?
Thank you. |
