| True! Very true! Rural systems are expensive to maintain and not profitable. Larger systems end up subsidizing the smaller ones.
I think people are going to quickly be faced with some realities in this country moving forward. We've talked about this topic before and some people don't like it, but.. if you want access to the better services and all the good stuff that we in the city get, then move from the smaller towns, or put up with what you get.
Gas prices are already dictating this move. It's already predicted that the outer suburbs are going to become the new slums if gas prices continue to rise. Smaller/rural areas are not always cheap to live in like some believe. Groceries are more expensive, your phone/cable/water, etc. are usually more expensive and usually not always ran very well.
I mean, there are some exceptions.. but it's one reason I moved from the rural area I was in. I didn't like paying a premium to get half assed services and it wasn't worth it, to me, for peace and quiet. Rather, I moved to a house that wasn't on a main road.. and I have 50/5 internet and peace and quiet. |

| We'll move back to the city as soon as all the crackheads, thugs, and loft dwelling hippie types gtfo. They will of course, as soon as the city becomes more desirable. They won't be able to afford it. So fine, keep the services there. We'll just come take them! |
