bottom of NID showing line 1, line 2 and Cat5 to/from splitter

Left Side of NID showing yellow/black wires from NID
I'll try that when I'm out there tomorrow.

Here are the other detail photos I took. Line 1 and 2 are assigned arbitrarily since they are the same phone number. Colors I've used to describe them in prior posts are included to help keep it clear which line goes to which side of the NID.

It occurs to me that the yellow/black pair on the left of the NID which connect to the terminal block and then disappear into the center of the NID are possibly just left over from when there were two phone numbers. Maybe the previous owner had the ph # on the left side of the NID also available to some phones that were connected to the phone line on the right side of the NID. The yellow/black pair on the left attaches to secondary posts on the left terminal block, as if it were an auxiliary line to the house. But instead of going to the house it goes back inside the NID. On the right side of the NID 2 more mystery wires appear (red/green) and are spliced into the yellow/black pair of the light brown phone line fed by the right side terminal block. Depending on what goes on inside the center of the NID all that may only be a way of picking up L1 and feeding it to the yellow/black pair of L2. Although that really seems like going around Uranus to scratch your elbow. But if that's in fact what it was then it can just be disconnected now, since there are no longer two different circuits - just two lines for the same circuit.
