Spots to visit question

If you knew you only had about 4 weeks in the Portland area, and money and time were not object, what would you want to see in the Pacific Northwest? What are the sights you couldn't do without?

Nothing is too grand or too small.......

I"ll post the why later....just need input now

In no particular order:

1 Seattle
2 Newport area
3 Mt. Hood area
4 Maybe the winery area, but I'm not a drinker. The views are gorgeous though

turn left at olympia and head out to the coast, then north to Iron springs resort/moclips for the wide, wide beaches. Hoh rain forest, hurricane ridge, dunguness spit, Tim's house from port angeles take the black ball ferry to victoria, BC (you have a passport, eh?) than the gulf islands ferry to vancouver> back down pased mount baker to the Ncascades NP highway to grand coolee.........wait you only have four weeks?

I would question why I was in Portland of all places.....

It would really depend on the interest of the people involved. While I would love to head over to the Evergreen Air & Space Museum in McMinnville to see the Spruce Goose many would find that a complete waste of time. Some good sites to check out for suggestions might be Travel Oregon and the Official Washington State Tourism Site.

But you could shoot pumpkins. And feel like a giant. I'll even come along and make midget jokes to keep things light.

First, thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
Braz: I said in Portland, because that's where I am

Gorge = Check
Oregon Coast = Check
(already done.....)
Mount St. Helens = Check
Spent 5 hours in the car driving both ways, but well worth it.

Oops! I left you at Grand coulee.so now you're in your inner tube heading down the columbia, past wenatchee, rock island, george, and it's time to get out (your toes are all wrinkly anyway) head west on I-90 to ellensburg, south on 82 to Yakima, west again on 12 through Naches and take the right fork onto 410 (chinook scenic highway) upto chinook pass (and the best view of Mt rainier (from the east side) then down to cayuse pass (southbound 123), if you have time a quick trip up to sunrise (best at sunrise) and on to the steven's canyon gate for Mt Rainier, Just inside is the grove of the Patriarchs (big trees that used to cover all of western WA/OR)
back out to 123>12>131 to see the back side of Mt' saint helens (just as cool but different then the NW side)
stop for a quick bite in Cougar and follow the lewis river rd (503) back to I-5 and back home.
