Re: "Alltel", "Sprint" and wireless in general. said by Vikingbabe2 :
Nice if you can get it. There are those rural folks who do not have ANY wireless options, much less DSL or cable. If you do (or don't) have Dialup....any internet connection means Satellite. So dont be calling us "stupid" for not getting anything better.
This, of course is WildBlue's (and HughesNet) target audience. I am one of those rural folks; the reason I got Wild Blue in the past was because to my knowledge I had no broadband provider in my area. I do not even have cable television in my neck of the woods. Again, as I said before I just happened to notice one day that Sprint had EVDO in my area and I was suggesting that anyone who has not taken a look lately should - you never know some provider may be able to offer EVDO to you. -- World of Warcraft - My anti-drug.

 | alltel's EVDO service is unlimited... Best bet is to find a friend with EVDO service and have them come out to your house to see if their access card has a signal where you live. My friend brought his access card over one day and it took all of 10mins to make the decision to order the service. It only cost me $125($200 - 100 instant rebate and $25 activation fee) to be up and running. With half signal strength I get avg 60-80kb/s download speeds. With my antenna/amplifier I ordered I should get better signal and higher speeds. -- Vista Ultimate 64bit, 4gb G.Skill DDR2 800mhz, Athlon X2 6400+ Black Edition, 2x Diamond HD3870 512mb DDR4 PCIe2.0 (xfire), 650w PSU, 2x 200gb HDD, Antec 900 Gaming Case |
