The madness must end

When the next round of consoles is released, all this crap has got to stop.

All these different console "versions" only make it harder for developers to make games, and all it further does is piss off several of your customers because in order to upgrade once a "better" one is released you have to sell a friggin kidney. Not to mention the fact that some of the upgrades can't be obtained at all without a new console purchase (HDMI).

i would say about 2 more years the wii and 360 will be replaced for sure.

Im willing to bet sony will push the ps3 for about 4 more years.

i read somewhere i cant rememeber of the top of my head, that all three where working on the next consoles already and have been for over a year.

Well you have an idea but until people realize what they ARE NOT getting when they buy these early systems they will KEEP scamming you. If they won't make a worthy system because your not buying the JOKE system then screw em all together...WHO needs em ..not me.

How does increasing the storage size of the 360's hard drive make it harder for developers to create games?

I once had a dream that Sean Connery stayed at my apt., and he had his laptop with Win98 on it, and he knew how to connect to my wireless network. I don't do drugs

maybe he is talking about saved games to the hard drive. 20g hd vs a 60g hd. Could be he is also talking about downloaded content also. That in itself can eat up a 20g hd very quickly.

Or you can keep your kidney and spend 20 seconds Googling.

That doesn't pass the HDCP requirement that would allow upscaling DVD playback or allowing 1080p for HD-DVD's on the 360's.

You also lose picture quality compared to using a console with a native HDMI output.

Yes, you are right on the upscaling and HD-DVD playback. And I'd actually meant to link to the Madcatz version of it, but I'm sure they're identical.

It does games 1080p, so I've read. Also, some TVs can handle 1080p over component cable, so that might be something for others to remember.

The Xbox 360 has for a while been able to output games in 1080p, thanks to firmware updates; it's beenable to do them via component for the longest time.

The issue comes from the fact that many (HD)TV manufacturers half-ass the video processors in their sets so that they refuse to support or accept a 1080p video feed off anything other than HDMI or something, nor provide a VGA port so that you could use something like the MS VGA HD cable.

In short...
Component - Games? 1080p. HD-DVD? 1080i (so long as there's no ICT). DVD? 480p max.
VGA - Games and DVD @ 1080p. HD-DVD? 1080p (when no ICT)
HDMI - everything at 1080p, including those with ICT as long as what you connect to supports HDCP proper, too.
