The bottom line

After many years of ignoring m$ and watching the pc game industry slowly move over to the 360 I have to consider the fact that if I want to play new fps games I'm gonna need a 360. I may buy one just to play fps games so I don't have to go out and get the latest video card every single year. The only thing holding me back from that besides money is the lack of keyboard and mouse but recently I found a third party adaptor online that allows use of a keyboard and mouse for $89.00 although steep it might be worth it if I really want to play these newfangled WWII same ol crap fps games. Gears of war is looking more and more interesting everyday and I don't even plan to use the online portion of the system, I don't like playing online so all this extra hdd space crap may be useless to me? I dunno so I will ask some bottom line questions here...

If I get a keyboard and mouse adaptor that works are there any fun FPS games to play besides gears of war and halo?

Has anyone sucessfully played the latest armored core game on the 360 with some kind of keyboard and mouse adaptor?

What is the lowest priced version of the 360 that I can get for these needs of mine if I'm not gonna bother with online crap?

You don't need to spend that much on some adapter. You can get a wireless keyboard and mouse combo for under $40. I just plug the wireless reciever in the USB slot on the front of the 360 and you're good to go.

This is not my field of expertise, but if you like Gears of War then Gears of War 2 is coming out in November. Also you could also rent games isntead of buying them. So if they suck you didn't waste as much money.

Probably the 20 GB version. The Arcade verison is $279 but doesn't have a hard drive. It does come with a 256 MB memory card but trust me that doesn't hold much at all. So if you want to save games you'll need to get a memory card which is $40-$50 for 512 MB unless you can find them on sale. So for an extra $20 you might as well get the 20 GB hard drive.

Maybe but its recommend that you just use the xbox controller

no

Still if you dont go online, its better off with a Hard drive becasue save games takes alot of space.

HD is use for Gamer Pics, Profiles, Game Updates, Demos, Arcade. Even if you don't do online gaming its better to hook online to download updates and have less bugs. No you don't pay for online xbox, just the multiplayer matches that you have to pay.

Yes you can. I have been using one with mine. Explain that. I'm not sure what FPS has to do with anything. A wireless keyboard will in fact work with a 360.
