the only way you can put blackberry in the "ruler" category is if they release a 3g capable device. Until then they are second tier to nokia and apple. |

| reply to psychomf The European and Asian targeted BlackBerry 8707 series runs on 3G UMTS networks, albeit without HSDPA.
BlackBerry's 8703, Pearl 8130, 8830, and Curve 8330 models all use EV-DO 3G, which is better deployed in the US than UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA anyway. (But the "world phone" 8830 has to fall back on GSM/GPRS in other countries, which is frankly ridiculous- not even EDGE?) |

| reply to fatmanskinny I have a 700p and am pretty brutal with it. No issues after a year and a half of abuse. The 600/650 had more issues when dropped.
PalmOS is played out but is simple and to the point compared to windows mobile. I do like the new iPhone, just isn't PDA enough for me though. |

First off 3G doesn't work everywhere so there's that. It isn't what defines whether the device is good. Besides as has been said they have one on the way.
In terms of the corporate space, Apple is the one with ground to gain, not Blackberry. They do indeed RULE the roost there. |

My iPhone which is jailbroken is the best phone I have ever had. Edge is fast enough for google maps when there is no wifi, otherwise I just use wifi to do online stuff i.e. stream XM radio over phone while I am cutting grass, not to mention mobilecast for my non iTunes podcast. My old treo 755p not even close. |

4 edits | reply to ossito16 I dunno, I'll take the 20K-30K+ apps on PalmOS. Plus, I can tether it to laptop and get EVDO. iPhone just isn't a very open PDA, not even an SD slot. Apple is too proprietary, which is good for some but not for me. I do like the web browser though.
For my needs, iPhone not even close until they open it up. It's great for consumers but not for power users. |
