I use newsgroups for access to Microsoft and Adobe users groups. Instead of getting it from Verizon I now have to subscribe to a private provider because VZ removed all groups except some stupid junk ones. It cost me $10 for 30gigs, so it's no big deal.
I am sure that anyone seriously into illegal kiddy porn did not use Verizon or ATT newsgroups anyway. They subscribed to a third party because it is pretty well anonymous. |

msnews.microsoft.com
adobeforums.com (also forums.macromedia.com)
because VZ removed all groups except some stupid junk ones. While I understand and share your resentment, this was a silly thing to say. The Big 8 groups are the core of Usenet.
