anon : Not recently - Around 2 years ago, we were having similar problems at similar intervals. I called and they tested the line and did a modem replacement for us. That seemed to work for awhile, although it would still creep up one a month for a few hours. Roughly 6 months back, at a particularly slow time, I called but had to wait for a call-back for service. By the time i talked to a technician over the phone, we were back to regular service, and they couldn't see a problem with the line.

All of this is giving me the feeling that either, we might be in an area(industrial park) that is periodically slow/busy, or the construction in this area somehow causing temporary disruptions. Local feedback would give me an idea. That or the modem is dead again and its time for another call. Of course by tomorrow morning it will be back to normal...

Walnut Grove shaw service

coreyc : Anybody else experiencing slow periods(business hours) in the Walnut Grove area the last few weeks? Our node may be overburdened with alot of new clients/businesses coming online. We're located right in the construction zone for the new bridge (201st street).

They seem to happen in 3 or 4 hour blocks, 2 or 3 days a week. Running the alternate shaw speed test will still give reasonable speeds to their server (350kb/sec), but websurfing and e-mail send/receive will be very slow. The fact that other times, we seem to max out our modem (mottorola) at about 675 kb/sec, makes me think its not the problem. But bypassing our router/switches doesn't seem to make a difference either.

Any opinions of Telus in the area?
