karlmarx : Just got FIOS from fairpoint installed a couple of weeks ago. Speeds are great (30/15) for about $70 bucks a month, and no caps, no throttles, no limits. Even though it was a fairpoint tech who installed it, all the equipment still says verizon. They will wire up anyone who has the fiber running already, but they are not going to expand the fios footprint, or so I've been told. That's a losing strategy, becuase EVERYONE here who can get FIOS, is getting fios and dumping comcast like the Venereal Disease they are.

NO CAPS! Speed ALWAYS exactly as promised (3.7MB/sec down, 1.8MB/sec up, thats BYTES, not bits), very stable. NO THROTTLING OF torrents or newsgroups or anything. NO COMPLAINTS that I've already downloaded 1.4TB in about 2 weeks.

Compare that to Comcast: Let's see.. 250GB cap, the $15.00 for every 10GB overage.. Hmm.. I'll probably pull about 2TB this month, so that would cost me.. about $2700.00 for comcast, or about $70.00 for FIOS. Do the math.
--
The happiest countries are the most secular.
