I have AT&T in the St. Louis metro and their service sucks badly for me.
Granted your phones make a difference, but it is completely unacceptable when I am traveling on the metro system (which is outside over 95% of the time and I can't stay on a call for the 25 min trip. |

I switched to AT&T specifically for the iPhone -- and so far, AT&T's coverage wins hands down over Verizon. Perhaps it's just my area but this blanket "AT&T is crap" statements are total bullshit. |

ATT has to have more towers because a GSM tower can not transmit as far as CDMA can, so that's why they need to have more towers. Also virgin mobile runs on Sprint's network not ATT's. I get cell service in some below ground subway stations (no they don't have any service in there active yet) in NYC and i have ATT, so i dunno what you're talking about. Also, when i was in san juan, i could call home no problem, and send MMS. If i'm not mistaken ATT had the first national wireless network.
