Actually what's funny is how many of the lovers tell those who don't want one that they "don't get it."
What's funnier still is all the hype around anything Apple. It's just hilarious to watch folks line up days beforehand. Same thing goes for game consoles in my book.
Oh and Apple stock down 1.3% this morning so apparently phone sales aren't necessarily helping the market. |

Well ... some people are more sensitive to the current economy -- and pay attention to trends -- and those people are probably tightening their belts big time. I may be wrong, but I looked at plans in my area, and it looked like $75 a month for the 450 minutes plan w/a two year commitment.
I have an old, and I mean OLD, cell with the cheapest plan I could find - $24 a month with limited minutes - because I simply don't have a need to call that many people from a mobile.
I think the rush to market may have a little to do with getting it out while there IS a market; releasing the product while the stimulus checks were still being mailed had to be a factor. And obviously the other 20 countries where the phone went on sale, given those 20 bought roughly half the 1 million, gave it a lukewarm reception.
The iTouch is compelling, but frankly? I have $300 to spend, but I've decided that money is needed elsewhere. There will always be people buying gadgets in this economy because it's nearing a have/have not split. But the days of rampant gadgetitis may be nearing a temporary end.
PS: Noticed 1lb bags of pinto beans disappearing from grocery shelves lately?

Oh wait, those were the headlines back in 1996. Hmmm.... -- 1/20/09 = The final day of our Retarded Cowboy President! |

Oh wait, those were the headlines back in 1996. Hmmm.... Actually pretty well everything was down when I posted that number. The point was not that they were ready to go under, but rather that iPhone sales in and of themselves aren't necessarily bolstering things.
I am still interested in knowing how many of those sales are new customers vs replacements of the 1st gen versions. -- TheGlobalMind.com | Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go? | Trust the instinct to the end, though you can render no reason. Ralph Waldo Emerson

It's more of a personal interest really. |
