Really the major benefits of an all fiber buildout are long-term... it makes future upgrades much simpler and has lower maintenance costs than copper.
But in the end you're right in that now it doesn't matter too much- if Verizon used some FTTN technology to provide 20/5 rather than FTTH then my internet connection wouldn't be any different. (Not sure if they could really provide both 20/5 and TV like they do now, though) |
